What makes people think there are qualifiers (or quantifiers) that determine what we are and what makes that successful? I once took a memoir writing class and the teacher talked about how she never felt she could call herself a writer. Most writers don't yet have a New York Times Best Seller or multiple published works. Lots of writers work on their craft for many years before they become official in the eyes of the public.
But they have always been writers, just haven't finished their important piece yet. As such, all of us are writers, artists, business people, singers, engineers, teachers, and sociologists regardless of if we have hit the societal qualifiers that validate it in the eyes of other people. We are so many things and our potential is truly limited when we wait for others' validation instead of going ahead and standing in our purpose(s).
So, I ask, what did you want to be when you "grew up"? And what are you doing to move toward actualizing that dream?
